Macalloy Tension Rods on Stayed Malmo Swing Bridge in Sweden

Macalloy Tie Bars / Tension Rods were used for this aesthetically beautiful bridge in Sweden.

Macalloy tie bars have been used on the Malmo swing bridge in Sweden. The tension rods take the place of cable stays, with the bars providing a more cost effective solution to cables.

In order to minimise the thickness of the bridge deck and maintain the open character of the harbour, the swing span was designed as a stayed structure. The 52 meter long stayed bridge rests on a hemispherical concrete pivot pier, which gives the impression of floating on the water.

Macalloy M76 Tension Rods are connected to the twin masts and act as deck supports.
