Macalloy Tie Rods / Tension Bars and Tension Rods have been used within this stayed pedestrian and cyclist footbridge.
Macalloy tie rods support this pedestrian footbidge, knowns as Beachcroft Avenue Footbridge in Auckland, New Zealand. The Macalloy tension rods are used as stays to support the bridge deck from steel pylons that raise 25meters above the deck. Just four pairs of Macalloy 460 galvanised tension bars are used to suspend the bridge deck.
The bridge provides cyclists and pedestrians with a safe, traffic-free connection between Hillsborough and Onehunga. The bridge is part of Auckland's 'Manukau Harbour Crossing' project being constructed by an Alliance comprising NZ Transport Agency, Fletcher Construction, Beca Infrastructure and Higgins Contractors.
