We are very proud to celebrate one of our apprentices’ recent successes.
Jordan Cawkwell who is currently completing his level 3 apprenticeship as a technical support technician with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), University of Sheffield and has been an apprentice at Macalloy for 2 years.
Jordan has been awarded a “Rising Star of the Year Award” by the Company of Cutlers and the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers who have jointly funded this award.
Jordan received this for his work in streamlining one of the testing processes ensuring the precision and accuracy of Macalloy bars are audited before shipping.
Jordan commented: “I have been testing fittings on the tensile machine and learned the importance of yield, load, calibration and audits when ensuring the quality of the brand which, is known worldwide”
Jordan was awarded £500 which will go towards further training with Gauge suppliers to encourage reciprocal site visits, share good practice and to offer guidance and on-going support.
Jordan commented: “The support at Macalloy has been great. Receiving this quality award has made me feel happy that someone has noticed that I have potential and that I can make a big difference.”
The award ceremony was hosted by the Master Cutler James Tear at the Cutlers Hall in Sheffield and presented by Mrs Nicola Davies, Master of the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers.
