Macalloy were delighted to hear that this new bridge in Salem, North Carolina, USA has won the “Prize Bridge ” award in the special purpose category from the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) in 2022. The bridge is a unique, multi-ribbed, unbraced tied-arch structure spanning the newly reconstructed Salem Parkway. The design is exquisite. It’s a pleasure to see it complete and see the Macalloy 520 Stainless Steel rods in situ. We are delighted that the designers HDR, working in collaboration with other agencies , have been credited with a prize for this stunning design and unique approach to developing it’s final construction. It’s so interesting we have featured it as an article in our project section.
