Birmingham University, Dubai

This is a stunning mesh canopy, designed to provide shade in the courtyard area of the new International Birmingham Campus Hub in Dubai.

Macalloy, supplied 42, 26mm 316 stainless steel cable systems, complete with a fixed M36 fork at one end, and a swaged tensioner/ M36 fork at the opposite end to Khansaheb construction company.

The stainless cables were for the P35 PTFE Mesh fabric supplied from M/s. Serge Ferrari and installed by Mister Shade ME LLC.

There are a total of 300 fabric panels in the shade structure.

This shaded area allows maximum use of the outside space. Beneath the shaded canopy is a fully planted courtyard with peaceful water features, enabling students to take advantage of Dubai’s temperate winter climate and use a calm and peaceful study or relaxation area.

This new building will be the academic home to 2,900 student. The innovative design and internal space created by Hopkins Architects will provide an amazing learning experience for all it’s students.

Birmingham was the first global top 100 and United Kingdom Russell group Universities to establish a campus in Dubai.

The campus officially open in 2022.
