Background: The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. It is located in Chicago, Illinois, and was founded in 1879. The growth of the museum has seen many extensions to house the expanding collections of the years. The most recent addition , in 2009 was designed by Pritzker prize-winning architect, Renzo Piano.
