Background: The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. It is located in Chicago, Illinois, and was founded in 1879. The museum is known for its extensive collection of artworks, spanning a wide range of cultures, time periods, and artistic styles.

The growth of the museum has seen many extensions to house the expanding collections of the years. The most recent addition , in 2009 was designed by Pritzker prize-winning architect, Renzo Piano.

Some of its most famous works include Grant Wood’s “American Gothic,” Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte,” Vincent van Gogh’s “The Bedroom,” and Pablo Picasso’s “The Old Guitarist.”

In addition to its permanent collection, the Art Institute regularly hosts special exhibitions, educational programs, and events. The museum is also home to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which is one of the leading art and design schools in the country.
