Background: The 130m, S–shaped footbridge was one of a number of regeneration projects in Castleford The bridge is the first major bridge in the UK which is fully Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. This ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. The curved Cumaru timber boards have been sourced from sustainable forests in Brazil and were chosen for their durability.
